Le macérat glycériné de bourgeon de peuplier intervient principalement au niveau de la sphère circulatoire, comme draineur des artères. Il se rattache par ailleurs à la loge coeur-intestin grêle en médecine chinoise. A ce titre, il agit dans les artérites dont il combat la tendance thrombophilique, notamment au niveau des membres inférieurs. Il favorise également la circulation collatérale en raison de son action antispasmodique artérielle. Ce bourgeon exerce une action tonique et antiscléreuse sur les artères.
Son action hypocoagulante globale explique en partie ses propriétés antiathéromateuses sur l'artère, ce qui l'indique dans l'artérite thrombotique. Il s'utilise aussi dans les états goutteux avec syndrome rhumatismal.
