Cebion 100mg/ml, oral drops, 30ml - treatment of vitamin C deficienc
Indications: Cebion is intended for the prevention and treatment of vitamin C deficiency, in cases where the use of an appropriate diet is not enough.
Action: Cebion oral drops contain ascorbic acid (vitamin C), a substance necessary for humans. Vitamin C participates in many enzymatic reactions (including collagen synthesis, catecholamine synthesis, hydroxylation of steroids, tyrosine and exogenous substances), increases the absorption of iron salts, inhibits free radical chain reactions. Its antioxidant effect remains in close biochemical relationship with the antioxidant effect of vitamin E, vitamin A and carotenoids.
Dosage: in small children up to 3 years of age, the drug should be administered after consulting a doctor. If there is no need for a different dosage: infants and young children (from 28 days of age to the end of 23 months of age) are given 5 - 8 drops a day, preferably by adding drops to a bottle or a spoonful of milk, tea or fruit juice; children (from 24 months to the end of 11 years of age) should take 10 drops a day; adolescents (from 12 years of age) and adults 15-20 drops a day. In case of a higher need for the vitamin, these doses can be taken twice a day.
Composition: 1ml of solution contains: active substance: ascorbic acid (vitamin C) 100mg. Other ingredients: glycerol 87%.
Contraindications: allergy to ascorbic acid or any of the other ingredients of this drug; kidney stones; history of increased uric acid; iron storage disorders (accumulation in the body); stomach ulcer disease.
Warnings and precautions: caution should be exercised in the case of: an enzyme defect in red blood cells, e.g. erythrocyte glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency; do not use high doses of ascorbic acid (4 g per day) severe or end-stage renal failure; high doses of ascorbic acid can contribute to the formation of urinary stones.
Interactions with other drugs:inform your doctor if you are taking aluminum-containing antacids, especially with concomitant renal failure (ascorbic acid increases the absorption of aluminum in the digestive tract). Concomitant use of salicylates may increase the renal excretion of ascorbic acid. Concomitant use of deferoxamine may increase the toxic effect of iron on tissues, especially the heart, causing its failure. High concentrations of ascorbic acid may affect the results of various laboratory tests (determination of glucose, uric acid, creatinine, inorganic phosphate). Such concentrations may be achieved in the urine at doses above 1 g. Also, the detection of fecal occult blood may give false negative results at doses above 1g.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. The drug should not be used in pregnant women without medical supervision. Ascorbic acid crosses the placental barrier and is excreted in human milk. The stated dose should not be exceeded during lactation.
Driving and using machines: no effects of vitamin C on the ability to drive and use machines have been observed.
