What ACC Long is and what it is used for\u003cbr\u003eACC Long 600 mg effervescent tablets are used to liquefy respiratory tract mucus in acute or chronic bronchial and lung diseases, during which mucus production and elimination are impaired.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e2. What you need to know before taking ACC Long effervescent tablets\u003cbr\u003eACC Long should not be used:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eif you are allergic to acetylcysteine or any of the excipients of this medicine (they are listed in section 6);\u003cbr\u003eif there is a severe exacerbation of asthma;\u003cbr\u003eif there are long-term stomach and intestinal ulcers;\u003cbr\u003efor children under 14 years of age.\u003cbr\u003eWarnings and precautions\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTalk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking ACC if you have:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSkin and mucous membrane changes.\u003cbr\u003eThere have been very rare reports of severe skin reactions, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell syndrome, temporally related to the use of acetylcysteine. If new skin and mucous membrane changes occur, it is necessary to consult a doctor immediately and stop taking acetylcysteine.\u003cbr\u003eBronchial asthma.\u003cbr\u003eSee also Paragraph 2 of chapter 2, subsection \"ACC must not be used\".\u003cbr\u003eStomach or intestinal ulcers or have had them in the past;\u003cbr\u003eSee also Paragraph 3 of Chapter 2, subsection \"ACC must not be used\".\u003cbr\u003eHypersensitivity to histamine.\u003cbr\u003eProlonged treatment should be avoided in these patients, as ACC affects histamine metabolism and may cause signs of intolerance (e.g. headache, runny nose, itching);\u003cbr\u003einability to cough up mucus.\u003cbr\u003eFor children\u003cbr\u003e, ACC Long effervescent tablets are not suitable for children under 14 years of age, as they contain an excessive amount of active substance, in which case it is recommended to use a medicinal preparation of a different strength, ACC 100 mg or 200 mg effervescent tablets.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOther medicines and ACC Long\u003cbr\u003eIf you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, or you are not sure, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAntitussives When\u003cbr\u003eACC is used in combination with expectorants, a dangerous build-up of secretions can occur due to a decreased cough reflex. Such combined treatment requires a particularly accurate diagnosis, so it is necessary to consult your doctor before using the mentioned combination.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAntibiotics\u003cbr\u003eExperimental studies have shown that acetylcysteine weakens the effect of antibiotics (tetracyclines, aminoglycosides, penicillins). For safety reasons, antibiotics should be taken separately and after a break of at least 2 hours. This does not apply to medicines with the active ingredient cefixime or loracarbef. They can be taken with acetylcysteine at the same time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGlycerol trinitrate (medicine for heart disease)\u003cbr\u003eACC Long may enhance the vasodilating effect of concomitantly administered preparations containing the active ingredient glycerol trinitrate (nitroglycerin).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eActivated charcoal may reduce the effects of ACC.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLaboratory tests\u003cbr\u003eTell your doctor that you are taking ACC if you need to be tested for certain substances, as the drug can affect their determination:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003esalicylates (medicines used to treat pain, inflammation and rheumatism);\u003cbr\u003eof ketone bodies in the urine.\u003cbr\u003ePregnancy and breast-feeding\u003cbr\u003eIf you are pregnant, breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePregnancy\u003cbr\u003eSince there is not enough experience with the use of acetylcysteine in pregnant women, you can use ACC during pregnancy only if your doctor considers that this medicine is definitely necessary.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBreastfeeding\u003cbr\u003eThere is no information on the excretion of acetylcysteine in breast milk, so you can use ACC during breastfeeding only if your doctor considers that this medicine is definitely necessary.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDriving and using machines\u003cbr\u003eInfluence on the ability to drive and use machines has not been observed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe medicine contains lactose and sodium.\u003cbr\u003eIf you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some carbohydrates, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.\u003cbr\u003eOne ACC Long 600 mg effervescent tablet contains 139 mg (or 6 mmol) of sodium. Must be considered if dietary sodium is controlled.\u003cbr\u003e3. How to take ACC Long effervescent tablets\u003cbr\u003eAlways take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. After establishing the diagnosis, the doctor selects the exact dosage and duration of the drug. It depends on the disease and its severity. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the following dosage is recommended.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAdult patients and adolescents 14 years and older\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHalf an ACC effervescent tablet 2 times a day.\u003cbr\u003eOr 1 ACC effervescent tablet once a day (daily dose is 600 mg).\u003cbr\u003eIf the disease is acute, the drug is used for 5-7 days, if it is chronic, the drug may need to be used longer.\u003cbr\u003eThe tablet should be taken dissolved in a glass of water.\u003cbr\u003eThe solution should be drunk as soon as the tablets dissolve.\u003cbr\u003eAbundant fluid intake enhances the mucus-thinning effect of ACC Long.
